ROME – Last Thursday, the “eternal city” of Rome celebrated its founding 2,774 years ago. According to legend, the city was founded by Romulus, the first king of Rome, who was the son of the god Mars and a princess of the central Italian kingdom of Alba Longa, Rhea Silvia.
